Parking & transport
Bury is located 8 miles north of Manchester’s city centre. Its public transport network provides excellent links to the whole of the North West and beyond.
Situated less than a mile away from the motorway network and the M66/M60/M62 are all within easy reach, making Bury town centre very accessible by car.
Travel News - highways / road works update Knowsley Street Junction
The next few months will see the final stages in the construction of new offices for Bury Council and NHS Bury (including a medical centre) at Townside opposite the Town Hall off Knowsley Street. Future work will include Six Town Housing offices and a Premier Inn hotel development.
Works have now commenced on the highway to improve vehicle and pedestrian facilities around the Angouleme Way/Knowsley Street/Haymarket Street junction.
When the scheme is completed new controlled pedestrian crossings will be provided across Angouleme Way to the east of the junction and across Knowsley Street. In addition, the existing subway will be modified and brought back into use.
Any lane closures will operate at off-peak periods during the day and work should not affect traffic at morning and evening peak periods. It is anticipated that final surfacing works and ducting works across carriageways will be carried out during the evening period (i.e. after 6.30pm) or at weekends.
The above highway works are anticipated to take place from 29 July to early December.
Metrolink
Bury town centre is easily accessible via the Metrolink which runs every 12 minutes through Manchester’s City Centre to Salford Quays, Eccles and Altrincham. You can be in Manchester City Centre in 25 minutes.
